AOD-9604
The burned-in captions and transcript carry the scientific claims and their limitations. The visuals are conceptual illustrations, not validated molecular models or experimental images. The video has no voice or audio. The full explanation is visible on screen; optional accessible captions are available in the player.
Read every result in its study context. A cell experiment, animal model, exploratory analysis and controlled human trial answer different questions.

Transcript
Two questions. Separate evidence.
AOD-9604 has been studied for two very different questions: body weight and cartilage. Following the evidence means keeping those research programs separate. [1] [2]
Human obesity trial: no significant advantage
It was developed from part of the growth-hormone sequence. An obesity trial did not show a significant weight-loss advantage over placebo, and that development program was stopped. [1]
Cartilage study: rabbits
Later cartilage research included an experimentally induced knee-arthritis model in rabbits. Tissue findings in that model cannot establish that AOD-9604 repairs human joints. [2]
Evaluate each proposed use separately
A new research angle does not erase an earlier trial result. Each proposed use needs convincing human benefit, safety data, and evaluation of the actual formulation. [1] [2]
Sources and context
These linked sources support the evidence distinctions in this short overview. This is not a systematic review, endorsement or treatment recommendation.
- FDA December 2024 briefing: evaluation of AOD-9604-related substances →Growth-hormone fragment history, failed primary obesity endpoint, development discontinuation, and nonapproval at review.
- Effect of AOD9604 with or without hyaluronic acid in a rabbit osteoarthritis model (2015) →Cartilage research used rabbits, not a human joint-repair trial.
