Replacing a research supplier may change more than the company on an invoice. Packaging, salt form, residual moisture, transport conditions or the impurity profile can differ. A laboratory should therefore consider whether an existing stability assumption still applies to the new material.

Stability belongs to a defined system

FDA explains that expiration dating is supported by evidence for a product under specified storage conditions. The conclusion is tied to the tested material and its packaging. It is not a universal lifetime attached to a molecule's common name. FDA questions and answers on expiration dates

For a research reagent, relevant questions include which attributes must remain acceptable and how deterioration would affect the experiment. A method that measures only the remaining main component may miss changes relevant to an assay. The appropriate tests should follow the scientific purpose.

The laboratory can record the old and new specifications, packaging and supporting data, then identify what requires verification. A supplier statement may be useful, but it should be distinguished from evidence generated under the laboratory's actual conditions. Shipping is part of the picture. A faster service does not prove that the necessary conditions were maintained, and a familiar appearance does not prove that the chemical profile is unchanged. Uncertain excursions should be assessed through the responsible quality process rather than dismissed on sight.

AXON has not established a shelf life for any peptide in this article. It offers a reason to revisit assumptions when changing suppliers or packaging. No universal refrigeration, freezing or preparation instruction is provided. A qualified analytical scientist should determine the study-specific evidence needed before the new material is treated as equivalent.
